Beyond Opioids and NSAIDS: Evidence-Based Integrative Approaches to Chronic Pain | Marni Hillinger, MD

This presentation is part of the 2020 State of the Art in Addiction Medicine conference which covers an expansion of treatment into correctional health, hospital consultation services and emergency rooms. It will cover how, despite the pandemic, telehealth can reach those who are isolated. It will address the worrisome trends in fentanyl, methamphetamine, tobacco and benzodiazepines use; legalization of cannabis, treatment updates for youth, cannabis and alcohol in pregnant women; and novel treatments such as non-benzodiazepines for alcohol withdrawal and psychedelics for substance use disorders.

Marni Hillinger, MD

Dr. Marni Hillinger is a triple board-certified, outpatient, physiatrist who focuses on whole person, relationship- centered integrative care with proficiency in treating musculoskeletal and spine related conditions. She serves on the health and healing team at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in San Diego. 

She has expertise working in office-based interprofessional teams incorporating integrative strategies including movement and exercise, nutrition, health coaching, manual modalities and traditional medicines in addition to training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and fluoroscopically guided injections. She has experience with spearheading novel initiatives including experiential workshops and curricular design in integrative health modalities with special interest in nutrition and exercise for medical and community based learners.
