Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this lecture learners should have a working knowledge of the following topics, essential to competency in addiction medicine and identify areas where more study may be needed:

  1. Be able to order and interpret drug tests of various body specimens.
  2. Understand time detection windows for various drugs of abuse, false positives and false negatives, and what drug metabolites are formed.
  3. Be able to detect invalid or tampered drug tests especially pertaining to urine drug testing.
