Garrett O’Connor, MD
Dr. O'Connor is Medical Director of The Elaine Breslow Institute ar Beit T'Shuvah Treatment Center. Dr. O'Connor has served as Chief Psychiatrist with the Betty Ford Center and was later named the first ever President of the Betty Ford Institute for Prevention, Research and Education in Addictive Disease. Dr. O'Connor is well known for the passionate enthusiasm that he brings to his teaching and all of his work. Over the last 20 years he has been working to clarify the role of malignant shame as a major emotional consequence of the extreme cultural and familial trauma that often results from addiction to alcohol and other drugs. Dr. O'Connor received a life achievement award from CSAM in 2011.
